Odd Evolution
In Odd Evolution, a secretive group of the wealthiest individuals on the planet are planning a catastrophic event to wipe out the world’s poorest and claim the planet’s resources for themselves. Unfortunately, nobody knows who’s involved or where they are based. A few brave whistleblowers who dare to even consider speaking out are eliminated without mercy. Events are coming to a climax and only Oddball and his Aequum team have the expertise and the audacity to take on ‘The Authority’ in their own backyard.
ODD EVOLUTION
High above, the first of the two Lockheed MC-130s made final adjustments to its flight path and set the bomb locking mechanism to ‘active’. The captain lined up the buildings in his scopes. With precise coordinates they could launch from many miles over the horizon, but they had been advised that the target was about one kilometre away from the given GPS location. That meant they had to physically eyeball the target before locking on. The co-pilot, First Lieutenant Jack Nichols tapped on the object locking button which informed the GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator of its target. Satisfied all was well, he related his actions to the crew and to the following plane. Two miles behind him, First Lieutenant Mike Edwards in the other MC-130 followed a similar routine. “Target acquired,” he said into his mask.
Counting down from five, Jack Nichols in the lead plane then pressed the launch button. His precision-guided GBU-57A/B 26,000-pound ‘bunker buster’ bomb fell from the plane before firing up its rockets. The warhead itself weighed in at a little over 5,350 pounds. 4,600 pounds of that was AFX-757 – a propellant-like, plastic bonded explosive developed to maximize the blast energy output. The other 750 pounds was PBXN – a deadly polymer-bonded explosive. The extra speed provided by the rocket motor enabled greater penetration of the missile-mounted bunker buster warhead. Between them, they could penetrate 200 feet – over 60 metres – into the ground, leaving very little behind. Even reinforced concrete was impervious to its deadly approach. But the secret to its success was that the bunker buster was equipped with a fuse that delayed its explosion until after the bomb had penetrated deep into its target. For the people underground at Evolution headquarters, it was Armageddon on steroids. None of them wouldn’t stand a chance.
